RED DIRT ROAD

After a faithful restoration of a 1962 modern glass house designed by Richard Bender, the owner desires additional privacy when weekend guests share this summer retreat. As an archetype, this study explores the expansion of a glass box, respecting the formal simplicity of the existing structure without disrupting the serenity of a bilateral site. The owner ultimately selected the option to extend the solid vocabulary of the existing end unit, creating a bedroom suite opening to an internal yet exterior court.
